My letters to The Editor, The Hindu

http://www.thehindu.com/2006/01/14/stories/2006011401941200.htm

Why should Parliament, the business of which is to legislate, sit in judgment of a wrong even if committed by its members? Is the judiciary not in place for the purpose? If, hypothetically, some of the MPs who voted for the expulsion are also shown on camera as having received bribes what will happen to their votes? Why should equals judge among themselves?

Tata’a ace

http://www.hindu.com/2008/01/12/stories/2008011256311001.htm

The launch of Tata Nano has spread a few myths: it is an alternative to two-wheelers; it will cause lesser pollution; it is the people’s car; and it is safer than two-wheelers. The reality is: two-wheelers are easier to handle; a two-wheeler user can reach the destination faster in the city; parking and moving are easier; a two-wheeler burns only 100 or 200 cc of oxygen but even a small car burns 625 cc of oxygen and, with traffic snarls, the gross emission will be much higher; more cars will make city traffic a nightmare; and a light car is never safe in a highway or high-speed accident.

Farm loan waiver

http://www.hindu.com/2008/03/04/stories/2008030454840800.htm

The agricultural loan waiver has essentially proved that the policy of economic liberalisation drawn up by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has not worked and that the Finance Minister could not do anything to take the so-called liberalised markets to the rural masses. Election-eyed loan waivers to one and all will only ruin the economy in the long run.
